HID stands for "Hight Intensity Discharge". HID lights produce a brighter beam of light that extends further and illuminates better than standard halogen lightbulbs. With a brighter light output and a more focused beam, high-intensity headlights are an active safety feature because they help you to avoid accidents before they happen.
They also last longer than conventional bulbs. With an expected lifespan of 3,000 hours (about 90,000 miles for the average driver), many consider HID headlights a ìlifetimeî bulb that never needs to be replaced. HID bulbs last up to five times longer than conventional halogen bulbs. Even if the bulb does burn out (and they can), the modular design allows bulb-only replacement, much like traditional headlight bulbs.
HID lights offer color that is closer to the natural color of sunlights making it safer and clearer at night. All our HID conversion kits come with chips and built-in starters. They are waterproof, and require no more than 20 minutes to install, with no cutting or modifying required. Since the capsule is aligned to the original bulb filament, the original beam pattern is not altered. All connectors are AMP waterproof and fully sealed, and are polarity insensitive, making the balast impossible to "fry". The positive (+) and negative (-) connections are clearly marked and foolproof, making the installation a breeze.
A special digital wire harness may be required for some higher end model cars, in order to bypass the computer error message. This is available at no cost to the customer. Some models that may require this are 2003 and newer Dodge, Chrysler, Mercedes-Benz and Jeep vehicles.
